Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max

The next generation of Apple Silicon

Last Year Apple introduced their own Apple Silicon, M1 with game changing performance. The first chip designed specifically for Mac. But 1 year later Apple has released 2 new chips, M1 Pro and M1 Max.

Built for Pro users the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips provide better CPU and Graphics Performance whilst using less power resulting in a better battery life.

Apple M1 Pro:

Apple has said that the new M1 Pro Processor is up to 70% faster than the M1 Chip from last years models. It contains 33.7 Billion transistors an up to 10-core CPU and up to 16-core GPU as well as being able to be configured with up to 32GB of Unified Memory. This will provide up to 200GB/s of Memory Bandwidth.

The new M1 Pro has support for 2 external displays and supports encoding and decoding ProRes. The 16-Core Neural engine allows for 11 trillion operations to be actioned per second with a 16-Core Neural Engine. All of this gives "industry leading performance per-watt".

Apple M1 Max:

The M1 Max chip on the other hand contains 57 billion transistors and contains the same 10-core CPU as M1 Pro but an up to 32-core GPU. This gives up to 400GB/s of memory bandwidth and the M1 Max chip can be configured to contain up to 64GB of Unified Memory.

This provides support for up to 4 external displays, the ability to Encode and Decode ProRes and the same "Industry Leading Performance per watt" and 16-core Neural engine for 11 Trillion Operations per second as the M1 Pro Chip.

Summary:

In Summary the new M1 Pro and M1 Max from Apple, allows Pro users to bring ideas to life that wasn't possible before. These chips provide incredible power with excellent power efficiency allowing users to create their best work, wherever they are working. Adding these chips to the new MacBook Pro's create some of most advanced devices ever made.
