The All New Apple MacBook Air Powered by M2

Redesigned and Supercharged

The New, Redesigned Apple MacBook Air powered by the New M2 Chip was unveiled at WWDC 2022. Although we are a little late to the party we wanted to give you the highlights of the new entry level Mac.

Lets start with the new Chip. M2 builds on the success of M1. More Power Efficient and allowing devices to achieve more, giving users the ability to be more creative as well as get more done. M2 takes the Industry Leading Performance per watt of M1 making it a 18% faster CPU a 35% more powerful GPU and a Neural Engine that is 40% faster. 50% more memory bandwidth and up to 24GB of Unified Memory, making this chip not only more powerful, but more efficient.

M2 is the beginning of the 2nd Generation of the M Series chips that have been developed by Apple since moving away from chips provided by Intel. A move that has allowed them to create more powerful and efficient devices giving users the ability to do more in a single charge as well as do things that weren't possible on previous generation devices or from previous PC's. 20 billion transistors are used in the M2 chip, that is 25% more than M1, meaning that M2 can handle larger workloads.

When comparing M2 with the latest 10-core PC Laptop M2 will provide nearly twice the performance, whilst using significantly less power, resulting in users being able to go longer between charges.

The New MacBook Air has also been completely redesigned. The MacBook Air remains a Fan-less Mac as with the previous Gen MacBook Air with M1, the new model removes the wedge design in favour of the all new box design, as found on the new 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pro's. The new MacBook Air also comes in 4 colours, Silver, Space Grey, Midnight and Starlight. So the New Device looks great and operates silently. Its only 11.3mm thin and 2.7 pounds, designed in Aluminum making it a great entry level Mac and great for those on the move.

MagSafe has also been bought back to the MacBook Air having first returned to the 14 and 16 Inch MacBooks Pro's last year whilst also retaining the 2 USB-C Ports for Power, Display and Content Transfer. MagSafe is great as it prevents devices being damaged if the cable is abruptly pulled, as the cable is simply disconnected. The Magic Keyboard features a full height keyboard, with TouchID and the force touch trackpad.

A 13.6 inch, Liquid Retina Display is featured on the MacBook Air. The screen has been expanded closer to the sides as well as up around the camera. The means that users get a larger screen as the screen borders have been reduced in size. The new screen is 25% brighter at 500 nits of brightness and supports 1 billion colours.

The New MacBook Air contains a 1080p FaceTime HD Camera with more efficient pixels, to deliver twice the resolution and low light performance.
